This is the men's Altra FWD Experience, a cushioned road running shoe and the first Altra running shoe to use a low heel to forefoot drop, compared with the standard Zero Drop in other styles. The Altra FWD Experience has 4mm drop heel to forefoot. Altra designed the Altra FWD Experience to be an easier choice for new runners or just runners new to Altra, but have heard about benefits like a roomy toe box for better posture and an improved running form.

This Altra running shoe has been designed to feel soft, with plenty of compression moulded midsole cushioning and a high 32mm stack height. A rocker construction has been used to encourage a faster gait cycle and keep you feeling nimble on your feet, despite the high level of cushioning.

All Altra shoes have a roomy toe box aka FootShape fit and the Altra FWD Experience is built on the Standard FootShape Fit, which sits in the middle of the range. The Standard FootShape Fit will allow your toes some extra room to splay out, in a more natural way than traditional toe box running shoes.

Similar to styles like the Hoka Clifton, a 4mm drop from heel to forefoot could suit a traditional heel strike and lower drop running shoe fan.
